Skill guide

Transcript to Meeting Notes

Write up a client call as your own internal file record — four fixed sections, every time.

For: Maryland SBDC consultants and staff
Maintainer: Brandon Mason
Source: the skill’s own instructions

Start here

What you get

For the note that goes in your file, not the client's inbox. Paste the transcript (or describe the call) and you get one fixed-shape note: Action Items, Milestones Achieved, Key Discussion Points grouped under topic subheaders, and Resources.

Same input as the action-plan email, different job: this one is internal, categorized, and fast.

Conversation skill. You start it by saying what you want; it asks for what it needs and hands back a deliverable in the same chat. Nothing to install beyond the plugin, nothing to configure.

What it never does

  • Never drafts the client-facing email — that's a different skill and it will tell you so.
  • Never invents an action item or milestone the transcript doesn't support.

Step 1

What to have ready

Step 2

Setting it up

Getting it on your side

The skill is plain instructions, so it runs wherever you already work. Pick your row:

  1. Get the files: everything is in the public GitHub repository — the skills themselves, and the ready-to-install plugin file on the latest release. MIT licensed; no GitHub account needed to download.
  2. Claude desktop app: download sbdc-toolkit.plugin from the latest release, drag it into a chat, click Accept.
  3. ChatGPT: this skill is a plain Markdown file, not Claude-specific. Open skills/transcript-to-meeting-notes/SKILL.md, copy the whole file, and paste it into a ChatGPT Project’s instructions or a custom GPT. Same instructions, same outputs.
  4. Claude Code: /plugin marketplace add bwfnx/sbdc-toolkit then /plugin install sbdc-toolkit@maryland-sbdc

Your first conversation

Open a new chat and say:

Log this consultation — notes for the file.

It will ask for:

  • The client ID or company name if they aren't in the transcript. That's it.

Step 3

How to use it

Say

Write up the meeting notes from this call.Categorized meeting notes for the file, please.Give me the action items, milestones, discussion points and links from this transcript.

What comes back

  • One note headed Meeting Notes - [Client ID] - [Company] with exactly four sections: 🎯 Action Items, 🏆 Milestones Achieved, 📝 Key Discussion Points (with topic subheaders like Government Contracting), 🔗 Resources.

Then

  • Paste it into the client's Neoserra file as the session note, or keep it in your own records.
  • If you also need the client email, ask for Transcript to Action Plan next — same transcript.

Tips from the field

  • Name the pieces you want ("just action items and links") and it still keeps the four-section shape but leaves the others short.

Questions people ask

FAQ

Client-facing recap instead?
Transcript to Action Plan.
A process walkthrough I want turned into a how-to?
Transcript to SOP.
Is it safe to paste client details?
Paste only what the deliverable needs. Nothing you paste is stored by the skill, but the chat itself is a record — treat it like any other working document.
It did something odd. Who do I ask?
Brandon Mason. Say which skill and what you said to start it; a screenshot of the reply helps.
