Transcript to Action Plan

Turn a client meeting transcript into the follow-up email you post into Neoserra — Next Steps, Notes, Accomplishments, Links — plus a menu of extras and the Nexus counseling narrative.

For: Maryland SBDC consultants and staff
Maintainer: Brandon Mason
Source: the skill’s own instructions (staff name: Transcript to Action Plan 2.0)

Start here

What you get

▶ Watch the walkthrough: what you do, and what the skill does for you

Paste or attach the transcript of a client meeting and you get back the professional follow-up email, written in your voice to the client, sorted into the four sections Neoserra expects. It is the record of the meeting, not a chronological dump.

After the draft, it offers a short lettered menu of follow-ups built from this meeting: a capital-readiness scorecard, a recommended training plan, the Maryland good-standing check, a funding search when capital came up, and a Nexus/Neoserra mapping option that gives you the exact dropdowns to enter and the third-person session narrative that survives a Form 641 review.

Conversation skill. You start it by saying what you want; it asks for what it needs and hands back a deliverable in the same chat. Nothing to install beyond the plugin, nothing to configure.

What it never does

  • Never uses emojis or casual tone — the email becomes part of the client's official record.
  • Never mixes inferred or partial milestones with confirmed ones; anything uncertain goes in a separate table for you to verify.
  • Never sends anything. You copy the email into Neoserra and your mail client yourself.

What to have ready

Step 2

What it connects to

Everything here is read-only unless the row says otherwise.

SourceWhat it readsWhat it does with it

Step 3

Setting it up

Getting it on your side

The skill is plain instructions, so it runs wherever you already work. Pick your row:

  1. Get the files: everything is in the public GitHub repository — the skills themselves, and the ready-to-install plugin file on the latest release. MIT licensed; no GitHub account needed to download.
  2. Claude desktop app: download sbdc-toolkit.plugin from the latest release, drag it into a chat, click Accept.
  3. ChatGPT: switch the chat to Work mode and paste install https://github.com/bwfnx/sbdc-toolkit; or download the repo zip and upload it at chatgpt.com/skills. Same skill, same outputs.
  4. Claude Code: /plugin marketplace add bwfnx/sbdc-toolkit then /plugin install sbdc-toolkit@maryland-sbdc

Your first conversation

Open a new chat and say:

Here's the transcript from my meeting with [client] — draft the follow-up email.

It will ask for:

  • Nothing, usually. It drafts from the transcript and asks only if something blocks the draft (a client name, a missing link).

Step 4

How to use it

Say

Draft the SBDC next-steps email from this transcript.Flag the Neoserra milestones from this conversation.Map this meeting to the Nexus/Neoserra dropdowns.

What comes back

  • The email — Subject SBDC Next Steps - [Client ID] - [Company], then Next Steps, Notes, Things We Have Accomplished Since Our Last Meeting, Relevant Links.
  • Milestones it spotted (certifications like 8(a)/MBE/WBE/DBE, sales or expansion, legislative letters, AI adoption, surveys), with anything uncertain in a separate verification table.
  • A lettered follow-up menu — always the scorecard, training plan, and good-standing check; funding search and hand-offs to other toolkit skills when the meeting calls for them; two or three ideas invented for this meeting; one "high value, minimum effort" pick; and the Nexus/Neoserra mapping.

Then

  • Pick a letter to get that deliverable.
  • The Neoserra option returns both the dropdown selections and the full narrative — paste the narrative as the counseling note.
  • Post the email into Neoserra, then send it to the client from your own mail.

Tips from the field

  • Say the client ID and company up front and the subject line comes out right the first time.
  • If the client mentioned funding, the funding-search option is the one to pick — it's live when the Compass connector is on.
  • The email now opens with two or three sentences about this client and this meeting instead of a stock greeting. It only uses what the transcript supports, so read it like the rest.
  • Want the client's other wins in the email too (EIN, bank account, first sale)? Say "include client wins". They go in their own Other Progress Worth Celebrating section, so the Neoserra milestone list stays clean.

Questions people ask

FAQ

Is this the same as the ChatGPT "Transcript to Action Plan 2.0" assistant?
Same method, same output shape. This is the Claude version inside the toolkit plugin.
Internal notes for my own file, not a client email?
That's Transcript to Meeting Notes. A lapsed client with no transcript is Client Follow-up.
Is it safe to paste client details?
Paste only what the deliverable needs. Nothing you paste is stored by the skill, but the chat itself is a record — treat it like any other working document.
It did something odd. Who do I ask?
Brandon Mason. Say which skill and what you said to start it; a screenshot of the reply helps.
